Benefit BROWzings Review

Benefit BROWzings
Two words define the eyebrow world at the moment (actually the whole world but still..), Cara. Delevingne. This bushy browed modelling sensation has taken the world by storm, one eyebrow at a time, and hence has begun a huge leap towards the au natural brow. Think big, strong and framing. Leave the pencil thin look where it belongs, on a bit of paper. 2013 is all about the power-brow ladies, and BROWzings is your pocket-sized master-at-arms.

Inside
You are provided with a gel, a powder, two application brushes and a very dinky and adorable set of tweezers. It comes in three colours; light, medium and dark and I chose light, despite having reasonably dark brows, so I suggest seeing the kits in person before making a purchase. You simply pop on the gel, then the powder and (minimally if you want a bushy look), tweeze any strays from the centre or lower parts of the brows, and you are good to go.

BEFORE

AFTER

As you can see, I have grown my brows out quite a lot anyway (rapid lash/brow is truly a godsend), but you can see the depth and precision this kit brings to my eyebrows. It shapes, fills in any sparse areas, and thanks to the gel/powder combo... stays put all day, so there is no need to 're-brow' throughout the day.

Thank you Cara, and thank you Benefit, it's BROWmazingly good!

Lauren Conrad; Beauty and Style

I have been a fan of Lauren Conrad since the Hills days. Her effortless, dressed down Cali look is always subtly perfect, and her simple, yet beautiful make-up choices always wow.

So, when I saw her Style book, I was totally fascinated by her advice for outfit choices; day, night, work...etc. But best of all were the chapters on hair and make-up. It's like a masterclass in creating her favourite looks yourself, from a red lipped evening face, to a sleek up-do.

Fantastically a year or two ago, she realised a book entitled 'Beauty', which, you guessed it - is focused just on her beauty tips and tricks. Not only does she talk about what works best for her, but she includes advice for different skin types, ethnicities and hair types, with fantastic illustrations.

She focuses not only on haircare, styles and make-up, but skin care too, amongst many other useful bites of tasty info.

I really recommend both of these books, as they are not only an enjoyable read, but they really are packed full of info, advice and just some little things you may never have thought about doing, which may become your new favourite...

Thank you Miss Conrad, for allowing us a sneak peak into your beachy Californian ways... and keep up the good work!

LUSH Ocean Salt Facial Scrub

Natural; check, Organic; check, amazing; DEFINITELY check. This LUSH facial scrub combines sea salt with other fantastic ingredients to buff away rough tides of unruly dry skin, leaving your face smoother than a calm day at the beach...

It not only buffs, but smooths with the organic Avocado butter and brightens with the zesty Lime juice. It really leaves my skin feeling incredibly soft, removes excess oil without drying my skin out, and smells like heaven in a pot.

It works so well on my oily/combo skin, but I really think it would work perfectly on any or most skin types, as it balances oils, whilst hydrating and is incredibly gentle on the skin. Sometimes as a little treat for tired hands, I use this pre-mani and they are left looking and feeling incredible.

This truly is guilt-free, pore refining genius in a little tub. Congrats LUSH, it's another stunner!

M.A.C Mineralize Concealer in NC20

The new Mineralize range by M.A.C cosmetics is designed to give added moisture to your make-up, whilst maintaining a perfect, lasting coverage.

I love trying and testing concealers, and I couldn't resist trying this to use especially when you want that bit of extra cover, like a party or even the morning after..

I recently tried the Fake Up concealer by Benefit, and I really loved the cover and the extreme moisture it provided, but for me, that is definitely a more natural, day product. See my review here - link, so I was definitely excited to see how this product compares in terms of absolute coverage. I was not disappointed.

Before (I need to seriously get more sleep...)

After (you would never know..)

As you can see, the before and after results are amazing. The cover is so full, but it really glides on, and a little goes a long way. I think the colour NC20 is perfect too, it is definitely lighter than the shades I normally go for with M.A.C foundation (C3.5/4.5), but with a concealer, you want the area you are covering to remain light, and this perfectly and flawlessly does the job!

All in all this product is amazing, it's like a magic wand for persistent shadows, neutralising and hiding them away. Make-up may be about enhancing what you have, but there no harm in a little real-life photoshop from time to time!

Monday M.A.C Madness

Some M.A.C-gic Products

My Mum went to Singapore recently, and knowing me oh-so-well, bought me back some lovely M.A.C goodies from the airport. She's a babe.

She got me the Studio Fix Fluid in C3.5, (which is around a shade lighter than the colour I use when I am tanning (C4.5) , so perfect for a more natural 'day' look), Lipsticks in Blankety, Russian Red and a new Mineralize colour in Lush Life, a 266 brush and a Mineralize Skin Finish Powder in Give Me Sun (which I use as a bronzer). Ammmazing.

On My Skin

This face powder is really meant to be matched to your skin, to smooth and perfect your look, but I got this in a few shades darker than my skin, and it's a fantastic bronzer, which is perfect for contouring and bringing a beautiful glow to the face.

266 Brush

So, that's my lovely M.A.C haul, thanks to my mum. The lipsticks are all such gorgeous shades, and like all other M.A.C lip colours, they are super easy to apply, with fantastic pigmentation. I have been wanting a 266 brush for a while too, as I am a lot more into gel eyeliner now, and I have heard many great things about this magic makeup wand!

I hope you enjoyed this, what are your favourite M.A.C products?

Spring Sparkles

This is a glittery mix of a Spring perfect pastel combined with a bit of glitz and glamour in the form of a nailjazzling topcoat. Its perfect for brightening up your dreary digits as the first rays of real Sun (yippee!), are actually hitting us here in the UK.

For this look I used Models Own Polish in Baby Blues for my base colour, and finished the sparkly showcase with BarryM's fabulous Amethyst Glitter. I chose to define a signature finger on each hand, by simply applying less of the glitter. This gives a sort of 'speckled' effect, which ties in, yet contrasts with the jewel-tastic surrounding fingers.

I hope you like this Spring sparkler, and don't forget to let your fingers shine bright too..
